Michael Cole Seemingly References CM Punk’s AEW Suspension During SmackDown

By Colby Faria. Published 10th September 2022.

Michael Cole has seemingly taken a shot at AEW amid the drama in All Elite Wrestling.

Ahead of the 9/9 episode of SmackDown, WWE star, Natalya took a jab at the recent issues between CM Punk, Kenny Omega, Matt, and Nick Jackson in AEW. Natalya’s ‘assistant,’ Bob, took over the former SmackDown Women’s Champion’s Twitter account and mentioned that Natalya has chosen not to sue anyone in her scheduled match, later that evening. Bob also stated that he was tweeting in place of Natalya because she was too busy eating a muffin, which Punk was famously munching on during his tirade following the All Out pay-per-view.

During that night’s episode of SmackDown, longtime voice of WWE, Michael Cole alongside broadcast partner, Corey Graves, recapped the previous week’s altercation between former champion, Ronda Rousey and company official, Adam Pearce. Michael Cole would go on to say:

“Rousey has been disciplined internally, the results of which will not be made public. Sources told me WWE official Adam Pierce has gotten carried away, he’s aired the dirty laundry publicly, hence the reason this investigation has been taken behind the scenes.”

In case you’ve somehow missed it, during the AEW All Out post-show media scrum, CM Punk took aim at Kenny Omega, Matt, and Nick Jackson (among others). Punk’s remarks would lead to a physical altercation between the bunch following Punk’s media availability. The brawl has reportedly led to all four men, including Ace Steel, Pat Buck, Michael Nakazawa, Christopher Daniels, and Brandon Cutler to all be suspended in addition to Punk, Omega, Matt, and Nick Jackson to all be stripped of their respective titles.
