Mia Yim has announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19. The star also known as RETRIBUTION’s RECKONING revealed the news on Twitter.
In a statement, Yim made clear that she has “been getting tested every week for several months now” with each test coming back negative. Though she tested negative for the virus as recently as last week, her most recent test unfortunately came back positive. You can see the entire statement below:
“This morning at around 10:30am, I debunked a rumour stating I was positive with Covid. For that, I must make a statement. I have been getting tested every week for several months now, all have been negatives. I was negative last week. I got tested this afternoon less than an hour ago and it came back positive. Please respect my privacy. Please stay safe, wash your hands, and wear a mask. See you all soon!”
Yim has not wrestled on RAW since December 7th. Though her entry into the upcoming Royal Rumble was never confirmed, her positive COVID-19 test will unfortunately rule the star out of making her Rumble debut this year.
Mia Yim is one of numerous wrestling figures in recent weeks to test positive for COVID-19 or to reveal that they previously contracted the virus. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre was one of the most notable names, particularly so close to his titanic upcoming bout with Goldberg. McIntyre, thankfully, recovered and his championship match will go ahead as planned. You can find out the details of how to watch the Royal Rumble here.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes wishes Mia Yim a speedy recovery.
