Mercedes Mone’s next AEW TBS Championship opponent is confirmed.

During the early stages of the WrestleDream PPV, fans saw a tense backstage segment between Mercedes Mone and her upcoming opponent, Queen Aminata. The two exchanged words in the locker room during the PPV.

While Mone demanded the locker room be prepared for her, Queen Aminata found her comments rude and disrespectful. Soon after the scuffle, Tony Khan officially announced the TBS Championship match between Mercedes Mone and Queen Aminata on the October 16th episode of Dynamite.

Mone last successfully defended her titles (TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Championship) against Emi Sakura on the October 8th episode of Dynamite, earlier this week. Her last TBS Championship defense was against Hikaru Shida at All Out 2024.

Mercedes Mone Believes She Played A Big Role In Stephanie Vaquer’s WWE Signing

After weeks of anticipation, Stephanie Vaquer finally made her NXT debut on the October 8th episode, allying with Giulia to take on the heel duo of Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez. Soon after, in her Mone Mag newsletter, Mercedes Mone opened up on how she could have influenced WWE to sign Stephanie Vaquer.

Another time was with Stephanie Vaquer for AEW’s Forbidden Door. Stephanie flew in that day and got to the building maybe an hour before the doors opened. We just talked about the match a little where she speaks a whole different language (Spanish). That was so hard. I’m like, my God, we don’t get time to walk over our moves, we speak two different languages, and we’re both tired, jet lagged, and hungry, too. Yet, that also turned out to be such a great match. She was signed by the WWE days later. I’d like to think our match had a say in that!
