Mercedes Mone has been considered for a role in a Spider-Man spin-off.

The live-action movie, known as El Muerto, is set to star Bad Bunny as the eponymous character who is the son of a Luchador and has been described as an ‘antihero’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was originally scheduled for January 12th, 2024, but Sony has unfortunately announced that it has been taken off the release schedule.

The report noted that, since filming is yet to begin, it would have been difficult to complete the movie in time for the release date. It has been heavily affected by the ongoing writers strike as the script was still needing additional work which could not be done in time.

Bunny’s touring schedule has compounded matters, as it’s unclear when he when will be available for the project.

Mercedes Mone was “circled” for a role alongside Bad Bunny

Casting had not begun for the film, but Mercedes Mone was seemingly “circled” for a part, while Marvin Jones III was said to be set for a return as Tombstone, the character he voiced in the hit animated movie, ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ in 2018.

Mone has recently been making inroads into the acting world, having portrayed Koska Reeves in five episodes of the Star Wars franchise’s TV series, The Mandalorian.

Outside of acting, The CEO has been impressing in her new home of New Japan Pro Wrestling, where she is a former IWGP Women’s Champion.

The star is currently on the shelf after injuring her ankle in a match for the STRONG Women’s Championship. She was reportedly set to win the new title in the bout, but the injury led to an audible being called and her opponent, AEW’s Willow Nightingale, capturing the title instead.
