Mercedes Mone is all set to face this current champion in AEW.
Earlier this week, on the 12th April episode of Collision, Athena defeated Harley Cameron in the opening round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. The ROH Women’s Champion has now advanced into the semi-finals of the tournament, where is scheduled to face Mercedes Mone next week on the 16th April episode of Dynamite.
Recently, speaking in a digital exclusive after defeating Cameron, Athena sent out a warning to Mone ahead of their highly-awaited match. The two champions are set to collide with one another in the CEO’s hometown of Boston.
“This is my year. This is my moment. First round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, done. Now on to the semi-final to face y’all’s CEO, Mercedes Mone. As much as you’ve been running AEW, I’ve been running Ring of Honor. Now it’s time for both of us to clash in your hometown. But here’s the spoiler alert Mercedes, I’m going to beat you. I’m going to embarrass you in front of your friends and your family.
After that, I’m going to go on to win the entire Owen Hart Foundation tournament. After that, I am going to be at All In in my hometown as I beat whoever is the AEW Women’s World Champion. You made a mistake, Mercedes, and that was picking a fight with me. Because hell hath no fury like Athena’s scorn. See you in Boston, bitch.”

Last week on the Dynasty PPV, Mone defeated Julia Hart to proceed to the semi-finals of the tournament.
Prince Nana Believes This Promising Star Can Reach Mercedes Mone’s Wrestling Status
Recently speaking on Punch-Out with Josh Nason,Prince Nana discussed the possibilities of working with promising AEW star Queen Aminata, and how she has the capability of reaching Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm’s wrestling status.
“It’s the same aura of when I was about to start working with Swerve [Strickland]. We are friends, and she’s great in the ring and this and that, but I know if they ever do take that step, that’s it. She’s on Mercedes Mone status and Toni Storm status in the wrestling business. She’ll even do it without me. She don’t need me.
But I know that if I could just add that to my collection — right now, it’s hard with Swerve. There’s a lot of business that needs to be taken care of. I don’t like to have too many things going on, but Queen Aminata, I’ll bring her in like that, my friend, and she’ll be a huge, huge, huge star. Even bigger than she is right now. I love Queen Aminata.”
