Mercedes Mone called upon the services of an old friend to help her get ready for her return match at AEW Double or Nothing.
At the upcoming pay-per-view on May 26th, Mone will compete in AEW for the first time as she challenges Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship. This will also be Mone’s first match back since suffering an ankle injury back in May 2023, which was also in a match against Nightingale for New Japan.
Providing an update on her training on social media, Mone is pictured with Sidney Akeem, better known to WWE fans as Reginald or Scrypts. The CEO added that she is ready to celebrate with champagne, referencing Reginald’s previous history in WWE.

Signing with WWE back in 2020, Reginald debuted in December of that year when he served as the French sommelier for Carmella, despite the fact that he is actually from Memphis, Tennessee. Reginald would attempt to assist Carmella in her matches against Mone [then Sasha Banks] but was unsuccessful. Tired of the interference, Mone faced Reginald in an intergender match on SmackDown and defeated the sommelier. Fired by Carmella in March 2021, Reginald formed a very brief alliance with Mone before the partnership ended.
Tony Khan Previously Addressed Mercedes Mone’s Injury Status
Although Mone’s debut is set to take place at Double or Nothing, The CEO made her debut back in March at the Big Business special and was limited in her physicality. Back at the AEW Dynasty press conference, Tony Khan said the following when asked if Mercedes Mone was cleared to compete at that time:
“She’ll be cleared at Double or Nothing for the singles match. And that was a big part of this, knowing that it’s been a major road for return from the injury. [At] Big Business, we did a great crowd in Boston, it was a great crowd last year in Boston, we drew even more fans this year for Big Business and really stepped up and I think her presence was a huge part of that. And it was great to have that moment, but also, to start building up some real excitement around the championships and real excitement around AEW.
To have a top free agent arrive on the big stage like that on Dynamite in the TD Garden in Mercedes’ hometown, got a great reaction, I think it’s built a lot of excitement. Now we know Mercedes is going to challenge for the TBS title, like Willow said she’s going to be an active champion.”
Ahead of the match, Mercedes Mone declared herself the greatest of all time.
