MVP gets honest about his WWE exit.
MVP is currently with AEW as the manager of the Hurt Syndicate. The star is a household name when it comes to wrestling and made a mark while with WWE. The former United States Champion started with the company in 2005 before departing the company in 2010. He then went to NJPW before joining TNA. He eventually returned to WWE in 2020 and successfully managed several stars, including starting the Hurt Business.
Speaking on the Marking Out podcast, Montel Vontavious Porter revealed details about how he revealed the Stamford-based promotion and how they offered him a lucrative five-year contract before his exit.
“A lot of people thought that I got fired by WWE. I asked for my release. I had a year left on my deal. They were offering me a five-year deal, and at that point, I just… I wasn’t happy anymore. I had lost my passion for wrestling, and I wanted to wrestle again. I asked for my release so that I could go to New Japan, and it reinvigorated my love for wrestling again.”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for MVP in AEW. The Hurt Syndicate was formerly in cahoots with MJF but it seems that alliance is now over as the star has been kicked out of the faction.
Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP will now look to dominate the promotion once again.
MVP Once Expressed His Desire To Manage This Former AEW TBS Champion
Wow, man. It’s funny because the women that I’m most impressed by don’t need my representation. Tony Storm doesn’t need me. Maybe somebody like Kris Statlander is somebody that I could represent. Or maybe Megan Bayne? I’m probably best suited for those that aren’t as comfortable on the mic. Most of the women at AEW that are really performing well, that are some of my favorites, don’t really need me.
But a few that stand out, like I said, Kris Statlander. She’s impressive. Megan Bayne. Red Velvet from Ring Of Honor is somebody, her charisma, her persona, her presence. She’s so impressive. She’s somebody else that I think possibly could do well with me. There are a lot of very hungry, intelligent women in the AEW women’s division. That’s what is so good about it.”
