Mercedes Mone Reveals Text Message From Triple H Ahead Of NJPW Debut

Mercedes Mone fka Sasha Banks in NJPW

Mercedes Mone hasn’t appeared for WWE since May 2022, but it seems that two of the men who helped her rise to superstardom haven’t forgotten her.

Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, made her debut with New Japan Pro-Wrestling at WrestleKingdom 17. The star didn’t wrestle on the show but arrived to confront NJPW Women’s Champion KAIRI. The segment set up a match between the pair at NJPW Battle in the Valley.

Ahead of making her in-ring debut for the Japanese promotion in San Jose, Mone released a short documentary on YouTube chronicling the run-up to her debut back in January.

After revealing that she hadn’t actually signed a contract with NJPW when the documentary was filmed, Mone said that both Triple H and William Regal had been in touch.

“And also at midnight, I got a very nice text from Triple H, and still it’s crazy, and I got an amazing text from William Regal this morning,”

Triple H Attempted To Bring Mercedes Mone Back To WWE

Mercedes Mone began her rise to the top of women’s wrestling in the Triple H-led NXT. During this period the star had a number of acclaimed matches with the likes of Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch. This meant that when Triple H assumed creative control of WWE, fans had high hopes that Mone would return to the company. However, that proved to not be the case.

The former six-time Women’s Champion also enjoyed a close relationship with Wiliam Regal going back to her early days with WWE. Speaking back in September, Regal recalled working alongside the star having previously stated that he put his on the line in order to get her signed with the company.
