Mercedes Mone Responds To Reports About Her Big Money Salary In AEW

Mercedes Mone has discussed her new contract.

One of the biggest albeit most predictable debuts in 2024, Mercedes Mone officially became All Elite on March 13th at the Big Business special event that emanated from her hometown of Boston. Receiving a great reception in the opening segment, Mone would later appear in the main event to come to the aid of former rival Willow Nightingale.

With the CEO being a big name due to her work in WWE and Tony Khan paying the big bucks for previous hires, many believed that Mone would not be lowballed to be an exclusive member of the roster. A couple of days after the debut, this was seemingly confirmed as a report stated that Mercedes Mone is very likely to be the highest-paid woman in professional wrestling.

Speaking with ESPN, Mone addressed the rumours regarding her salary, to which the CEO gave the following response:

“I mean, I’m not Mercedes MonĂ© for no reason,” she said with a smirk. “Money changes everything. I’m always about that bag. Absolutely.”

Many former WWE Superstars now signed with All Elite Wrestling have often stated that one perk of being in the rival promotion is the increased creative freedom due to the lack of writers and a more relaxed environment. During the same interview, Mone echoed this sentiment:

“You can do so much more in AEW — you can do everything,” MonĂ© said. “And for me, I want to do everything. So, this is the place for me to be, and this is the place that I call home.”

In recent news, Mercedes Mone has stated that AEW is the “best wrestling company in the whole world.”

Mercedes Mone Caused Backstage Issues Prior To Debut

A few days before Mone officially became All Elite, the former IWGP Women’s Champion appeared on the Kick Rocks podcast to discuss her injury that kept her out of action for nearly a year and her time within WWE, including the infamous walkout in May 2022. In a somewhat surprising statement that was edited out of the original broadcast, Mone stated that a WWE return is likely at some point in the future.

Following the debut, it was reported that Mercedes Mone’s comments caused backstage issues within AEW.

In a further report, it is noted that Mercedes Mone’s signing could echo that of previous WWE success stories.
