Mercedes Mone Makes Bold Statement About Wrestling Future Ahead Of AEW Debut

Mercedes Mone has teased a WWE return despite the fact that a debut is imminent.

March 13th will see All Elite Wrestling present the Big Business special at the TD Garden in Boston. Much like the AEW Rampage First Dance special in August 2021 that saw the debut of CM Punk, it is all but confirmed that The CEO will be making her long-awaited debut for the company. When this does happen, Mone will round out a trio of major names to sign with the promotion as Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada are both full-time members of AEW.

Days before the Big Business special, Mone spoke with Evan T Mack on the Kick Rocks podcast. While the AEW debut was not explicitly referenced, there were multiple hints of “big business” moves that the former IWGP Women’s Champion will be making very soon.

During the interview, Mercedes Mone’s shock departure from WWE was discussed, where Mone [then Sasha Banks] and Naomi walked out of the company during a live TV taping. In an extra piece of footage that was cut from the original podcast interview, Mone stated that she knows that a WWE return will happen in the future:

“I know I’m going to be back there one day. It’s not over. I have a lot of unfinished business in wrestling in a lot of places,”

Following a lengthy run in TNA, Naomi made her return to the company in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match, entering the match unannounced in the number 2 spot.

Mercedes Mone Details Battle With Injury

Following on from the WWE walkout, Mone debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and would have a brief run with the company. Mone would suffer a broken ankle and would be sidelined for the best part of a year as a result. During the same interview, Mercedes Mone opened up about her career-threatening injury and admitted to screaming at her doctor.

In recent news, Mercedes Mone says she has “found her home” in AEW.
