Mercedes Mone has been all over wrestling news as of late. Her first post-WWE appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 17 garnered plenty of attention. Then there was the fact that her first match at Battle in the Valley on February 18th is already sold out.
And in keeping with this theme of upward momentum, Mercedes Varnado has been signed on for a big budget film.
Mercedes Mone cast of “The Collective”
According to Deadline, Mercedes Mone joins a cast that includes Lucas Till, Ruby Rose, Tyrese Gibson (of Fast and Furious fame), Paul Ben-Victory and Don Johnson.
The basic premise of the film is that it follows a group of righteous assassins known as “the Collective”, which includes Mone’s character, Nikita, who is described as a “blade-wielding Pitbull”.
In the film, the Collective’s goal is to take down a sophisticated human trafficking ring that’s being backed “by a network of untouchable billionaires”.
The film’s synopsis further reads as follows:
“With their backs against the wall, The Collective has no choice but to put their most important mission in the hands of rookie assassin, Sam Alexander (Till). What he lacks in experience he makes up for in savvy, grit, and a keen ability to improvise in the most dangerous situations.
He is aided on his journey by Hugo (Gibson) and Liam (Johnson), former CIA operatives turned rogue vigilantes.
They face off against Daisy (Rose), the cunning general manager of this evil, clandestine organization. Sam must prove to himself, Liam and Hugo that he’s Collective material on this life-or-death, take-no-prisoners mission.”
Mercedes Mone is currently scheduled to face KAIRI (a.k.a. NXT’s Kairi Sane) for the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW Rumble in the Valley.
