Mercedes Mone Credited With Popular AEW Segments: ‘It Was Her Idea’

Mercedes Mone Responds To Negative Reaction From AEW Fans

Mercedes Mone has been credited as the brain behind these popular segments.

Since its inception in 2019, Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling has been on the rise. Despite its fair share of ups and downs, AEW has provided a fresh perspective to the world of mainstream professional wrestling. Filled with violent matches and quirky humor, a series of recent comic spots from Harley Cameron have won over the internet.

A few months ago, ahead of Grand Slam Australia, Cameron introduced her Puppet Mone during her feud with Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. While fans loved the segments and appreciated the innovative humor, Harley Cameron recently revealed them to be Mone’s idea itself.

Speaking to Chris Jericho on Talk Is Jericho, she said:

“I posted a thing on Twitter being like, ‘Me and Earl are doing Cameo.’ I guess everyone at work was like, ‘You’re a puppeteer?’ It was Mercedes’ idea. I still remember when we spoke about it and she was like, ‘Could you ever do a puppet of me?’

It’s so funny she said it because the moment she said it, I was like, ‘No shit, I was literally thinking about doing this.’ I actually made the puppet. I bought the puppet base, but the hair and outfit, I have to give a shoutout to Chris, the seamstress here, he’s fantastic, he made the gear. I gave some of my old gear to him and he made her gear. We created Mini Mone ourselves and the people love it.”

However, in her home country of Australia, Cameron was unable to defeat Mone. She is now scheduled to tag with the TBS Champion and face Athena & Julia Hart on the upcoming episode of Collision, ahead of the Dynasty PPV.
