Mercedes Mone believes wrestlers will lose opportunities when WWE Raw moves to two hours.
On September 9th, WWE announced that Raw is moving back to a two-hour format for the first time in over a decade. The change will take place in October and is confirmed to last for the rest of 2024 ahead of the red brand’s move to Netflix in January. Whether it remains two hours on the streaming giant is currently unknown.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club, former WWE star and current AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone explained why she thinks the change will lead to the roster losing opportunities, something which could be especially detrimental for the women’s division.
“I think that sucks for the wrestlers. If you lose a whole hour, that’s a whole opportunity of performing in front of a live audience and in front of millions watching at home, but I think just the move to Netflix is so huge for them that they’re gonna gain so much more opportunities in so many different other ways.”
“I think it’s great for performers to get more opportunities, especially for women. We’re only given five to eight minutes, so we need that extra hour—we need that time to tell a story.”
Will Mercedes Mone Return To WWE?
Mercedes Mone recently addressed the possibility of returning to WWE after walking out of the company in 2022. The CEO says she is “living her dreams” in AEW and doesn’t think she will want to leave the company, saying it is her home “right now.”
Recently Mercedes Mone recalled a “crazy” WWE angle.
