Mercedes Mone is hopeful that AEW will host a first-time-ever show at some point soon.
While All Elite Wrestling has faced a number of criticisms over its near 6-year history, the most persistent has been the booking of the women’s division. Despite the fact that there are 2 champions on the brand, one women’s match on Dynamite each week is generally the norm and women’s matches on PPV’s that do not have a title to fight over are non-existent.
However, while the lack of women’s matches is commonly called out, the lack of talent is not the issue with the likes of Mariah May, Toni Storm and Willow Nightingale all being signed to the company.
While appearing on the Battlegroundpodcast, Mone was asked about the possibility of having an all-women’s weekly show:
“Wow, a weekly show, absolutely. We have the talent, so why not? All Elite Women’s Wrestling? There you go. We have the best women’s wrestling. From Willow, Mariah May, Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Kris Statlander, Kamille—there’s definitely an opportunity to have an all-women’s show every single week, so I don’t see why not.”
The former Sasha Banks was a part of the all-women’s show WWE Evolution back in 2018. When asked about this being a possibility in AEW, The CEO stated that there was no reason why it couldn’t happen:
“Because we have the best women’s wrestlers. We have a roster full of talent and a long list of women that could make an all-women’s pay-per-view possible. I think it’s just a matter of giving the chance and opportunity. If Tony [Khan] sees that, I don’t see why we couldn’t have a women’s revolution here in AEW. It’s already happening; the women have been killing it every single week. I think an all-women’s pay-per-view here would be incredible,”
Mercedes Mone Prepares For Full Gear
Having won the TBS Championship back at Double or Nothing, Mone has been the TBS Champion for 158 days and counting. With her next title defence scheduled for Full Gear, Mercedes Mone was recently issued a challenge.
