According to PWInsider, Mercedes Martinez is being sent back to NXT following her fleeting main roster call up as part of RETRIBUTION.
Earlier this week, Inside the Ropes reported that Mercedes had been removed from the vigilante group after WWE had filed trademarks for every other member except Martinez’s character, Retaliation.
Mercedes Martinez has not been seen at the side of RETRIBUTION for several weeks now, was not present with the group for the reveal of Mustafa Ali as leader and was no mentioned by the mastermind on social media when noting each member of the group.
While it’s a blow for the star, losing her main roster call-up, her presence back in NXT will only further legitimise one of the best women’s rosters in the industry today alongside Io Shirai, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, Toni Storm, Candice LeRae and many more.
Mercedes Martinez made her initial in-ring NXT debut on the October 25, 2017 edition of the black and gold brand in a Qualifying Battle Royal to decide one of the spots in the NXT Women’s Championship Match at NXT TakerOver: WarGames.
Since joining NXT full time, Martinez’s biggest contribution has been as a member of The Robert Stone Brand and her brief feud with Rhea Ripley which culminated in a Steel Cage Match on the September 8 edition of the show.
WWE have yet to confirm the stars return to the third brand.
