Melina will face Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Knockouts Championship at NWA’s first-ever all-women’s PPV, EmPowerrr.
On the latest edition of IMPACT! Wrestling Purrazzo was interrupted mid-promo by Mickie James. James, with a match contract in hand, revealed Purrazzo’s next challenger for the Knockouts Title at EmPowerrr was non-other than Melina.
The former three-time WWE Women’s Champion made her first-ever appearance on IMPACT to confront Purrazzo and make their match official.
Melina is most well known for her time in WWE. The California native made her debut performing as the manager for former Tag Team Champions MNM. Melina went on to establish herself as a single’s star, winning her first Women’s Championship from Mickie James in 2007.

Melina debuted for NWA in November of 2019, initially wrestling in tag team matches. Melina was most recently in action on June 29th in a losing effort to Kylie Rae.
Deonna Purrazzo has enjoyed a tremendous run since signing for IMPACT last year. The former NXT Superstar impressively won the Knockouts Title from Jordynne Grace at the first attempt. Although Purrazzo later lost the title to Su Yung, she quickly regained it at Turning Point.
Purrazzo’s most recent defence came against new AEW signee Thunder Rosa at Slammiversary.
The Knockouts Championship match between the two is one of many first-time matches to take place at the historic event. Kamille defends the NWA World Women’s Championship against “Legit” Leyla Hirsch, while the NWA women’s tag team championships are also set to return.
The show’s main event will crown the inaugural winner of the NWA Women’s Invitational Trophy.
The event which takes place at the Khorassan Ballroom at Chase Park, Plaza in St. Louis on August 28th will be available to watch on FITE.
