Japanese veteran Meiko Satomura recently passed an incredible milestone in NXT UK.
On June 10th, Meiko Satomura celebrated one year as NXT UK Women’s Champion. Satomura won the championship with victory over Scottish star Kay Lee Ray, now known as Alba Fyre in NXT 2.0.
To date the star has defended her championship on nine occasions, seeing off challenges from the likes of Xia Brookside, Isla Dawn and Blair Davenport.
Satomura’s most recent defence came on the June 9th episode of NXT UK when she defeated Ivy Nile. The show was taped back in April.
Incredibly, the veteran’s reign is far from the longest in the title’s history, with Kay Lee Ray holding the belt for a staggering 649 days before being beaten by Satomura. The shortest reign on record belongs to Rhea Ripley who was crowned the brand’s first women’s champion in August 2018. WWE recognise her reign as lasting just 44 days.
There is only a person "me" in the world.
It's wonderful to get older and have a career.
There is no risk‼️
Just be confident., I met great opponents‼️

Meiko Satomura began her career back in 1995, appearing for Japanese all-female promotion Gaea Japan. Due to the promotion’s working relationship with WCW, the star competed for the WCW Women’s Championship in 1996. She continued to make occasional appearances on WCW television until the agreement between the two promotion’s ended in 1997.
Satomura remained with Gaea Japan until the company folded in 2005, before founding her own promotion Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling a year later. The star also appeared in Chikara before making her WWE debut in the 2018 Mae Young Classic where she made it to the semi-finals only to be defeated by eventual winner Toni Storm.
Satomura signed with the company in late 2020, making her NXT UK debut the following February.
