After Max Dupri turned on his Maximum Male Models stable the former NXT star is set to return to his former character.
Max Dupri arrived on Friday Night SmackDown in May and quickly introduced the world to his new stable Maximum Male Models, made up of Mansoor and Mace.
The trio were eventually joined by Dupri’s sister Maxxine Dupri but as the weeks past, Max appeared to be losing patience with the group.
Things came to a head for the group on SmackDown in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on September 30th as Max Dupri walked out on his team. Mace and Mansoor spent much of SmackDown trying to break the Canadian record for posing when they were foiled at the last minute by Dupri himself.
After Dupri said that “this” was no longer for him he headed away from the ring delivering the “yeah” catchphrase that formed part of his former character LA Knight. This naturally sparked speculation that the former NXT star was set to return to his former persona.
It has now been reported that Dupri will once again become LA Knight going forward. The report from PWInsider says that the move will happen “ASAP” and that the star is already listed as LA Knight internally. In addition, it appears that Maximum Male Models will continue under the guidance of Maxxine.
LA Knight signed with WWE in early 2021 after a highly successful stint in IMPACT Wrestling under the name Eli Drake. Upon joining WWE, the star was re-named LA Knight and appeared exclusively on NXT. During his time on WWE’s third brand, Knight became Million Dollar Champion during his feud with Cameron Grimes and Ted DiBiase.
