Matt Riddle Says Multiple Stars Find Him Disrespectful At Times

Sometimes the things Matt Riddle says during interviews really get under some WWE star’s skins.

Matt Riddle has made quite the impression on the WWE main roster. While his laid-back, stoner persona perhaps may be off-putting for some, The Original Bro somehow still gets one of the loudest pops on Monday Night Raw.

However, sometimes the things he says during interviews end up getting him into trouble. Fans may remember him calling out Goldberg and Brock Lesnar multiple times in interviews. That ultimately led to a backstage confrontation between himself and Goldberg at SummerSlam 2019.

During his appearance on Corey Grave’s “After The Bell” podcast, Riddle explained why he goes off the cuff during interviews and intentionally tries to rub other wrestlers the wrong way.

“But a lot of times, I’ll say stuff, especially in interviews like this. And guys, like Roman, guys like Brock, guys like Seth, guys, especially the talkers, guys like Randy. They’ll hear what I say, they hear how I talk, and they find me extremely disrespectful, and they don’t like it.

And then they work with me, they get to know me that, oh, you’re just like trying to hype everything up and like, get buzz. And I’m like, yeah, because that’s our job. Like, I want people to think I really hate people and people really hate me. So I can sell tickets to this fight. That’s what I want. Because if I don’t, nobody’s gonna show up and I’m useless and I don’t have any value. That’s how I look at it.”

One of the guys Riddle had a bit of real-life beef with in the past is his Extreme Rules opponent Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Their issues from a couple of years ago stemmed from Riddle’s ex-wife singling out women on the main roster for being “straight skinny jiggly fat” and using a picture of Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch, as an example. Rollins would later admit during a Friday Night SmackDown Watch Along that he had no desire to work with The Original Bro.

The two have since settled their issues and have begun working together on Monday Night Raw. They are set to wrestle each other inside a Fight Pit on October 8th at Extreme Rules with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier as the special guest referee.
