During WWE’s 2021 Elimination Chamber PPV, The Original Bro, Matt Riddle defeated Bobby Lashley and John Morrison to capture the illustrious WWE United States Championship.
Ahead of the 2021 Elimination Chamber PPV, Keith Lee -who was originally set for the US Title Triple Threat Match- was pulled from the show- as first reported by PWInsider. During the WWE Elimination Chamber pre-show, commentary announced that Keith Lee would be unable to compete due to an unspecified injury.
Lee’s replacement was decided via an Elimination Chamber Pre-Show Fatal Four-way match featuring: Ricochet, Elias, Mustafa Ali and John Morrison.
Ultimately, John Morrison was victorious pinning Mustafa Ali to book his ticket to the main show Championship opportunity.
Bobby Lashley, Matt Riddle and John Morrison faced-off midway through the show, with reigning United States Champion Bobby Lashley unable to hold on to his title despite the numbers advantage the heels had ascertained earlier in the night.
Riddle’s victory -pinning his fellow challenger, John Morrison following the Bro-Derek – allowed him to become the 98th unique holder of the prestigious belt and is The Original Bro’s first singles title win in the WWE.
Furthermore, Riddle’s victory signalled the end for Bobby Lashley’s 172+ day reign, that began, in May, 2020, when Lashley defeated then US Champion, Apollo Crews on WWE Monday Night RAW.
