Matt Hardy Talks Missed Opportunity In AEW, Wanted To Interact With This Tag Team

Matt Hardy Responds To Jeff Hardy AEW Contract Reports; What Does The Future Hold?

Matt Hardy opened up about a missed opportunity in AEW.

In mid-April, Matt Hardy confirmed that his contract with All Elite Wrestling had come to an end, and that he was now a free agent. Speaking on a recent edition of Busted Open, Matt Hardy pointed out that he and brother Jeff Hardy never got to interact with famed WWE rivals Adam Copeland and Christian Cage before their contracts were up , something he admits he was hoping to achieve.

“I think we did hope we’d get an interaction with Adam (Copeland) and Jay (Christian Cage) while we were in AEW. I mean, I don’t even know if that’s having some major feud or whatever but I just think the interaction between the four of us would have been very iconic and something that people would have liked to have seen, if we could have done that in some capacity.”

Matt Hardy Details The Ideal Final Match For Himself And Jeff Hardy

Continuing, Matt Hardy explained that teaming with his brother against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage would be the perfect sendoff.

“And I’ve said this before: A lot of people have said, ‘In a perfect world, what would be your final match?’ In some ways, one of our most perfect final matches would be myself and Jeff versus Edge and Christian and just everybody kind of end it there because we help put all each other on the map with that tag team Ladder match and then obviously, The Dudleys walked into the room, we started doing the TLC stuff and that’s a staple that’ll live on forever but, as you said, D-Von (Dudley) can’t necessarily wrestle now.

It looks like Edge and Christian would be our greatest final match I feel like because we have such a shared history together.

We all acknowledged that, I think, that we would like to share a ring together, in whatever capacity that may be and that doesn’t necessarily (mean) having a match or working against one another. It was one of those things that I feel like after Jeff got hurt, Jeff had a little run of singles matches and then he got hurt and then I left and he left and the topic was never brought up again. “

Matt Hardy is now signed to TNA after making his return at Rebellion.

In a new update, Matt Hardy elaborated on why an upcoming match will signal the end of an era.
