Jeff Hardy debuted with AEW in March 2022, but things quickly went off the rails.
Just three months later the former World Champion was arrested and suspended without pay. However, after a spell in a rehabilitation facility, Hardy’s legal problems were finally settled in February 2023.
Hardy submitted a written plea of nolo contendere to all charges relating to his DUI arrest, and the case was closed. This is where a defendant agrees to accept punishment but does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges brought against them.
Speaking on a recent episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Jeff’s brother Matt offered an update on his progress. Matt confirmed that Jeff had recently undergone eye surgery, adding that he’ll be doing “physical stuff” soon.
“He just had some eye surgery and he’s recovering, probably a few weeks out from being fully physical but hopefully, sooner than later, he’ll be up for doing physical stuff again. He did sneak away with his family and go on a little vacation for a few days, which is nice. He’s in a really good place in life and I think he’s very happy where he’s at. It makes me very proud of him and it also fills me with joy that he’s happy with where he’s happy in life.”
Matt Hardy Believes Jeff Hardy Will Return To AEW
Ever since Jeff Hardy was suspended by AEW following his legal and sobriety issues, there has been speculation over whether he will ever return to the ring.
Interestingly, speaking back in March, Matt explained that he believes he will. Matt said that Jeff feels like he wants to redeem himself, adding “I don’t think we’ve seen Jeff appear on AEW television for the last time.” Matt went on to call the potential comeback a journey to redemption.
