Matt Hardy Reveals Who He Believes Will Defeat MJF For The AEW Championship

MJF celebrates with AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear.

At AEW Full Gear, MJF became the youngest man to hold the AEW World Championship when he defeated Jon Moxley for the title in the main event, albeit under controversial circumstances as Blackpool Combat Club founder William Regal turned on his team and handed the future champion his signature brass knuckles.

Regal was written off AEW television shortly thereafter as his contract with the company came to a close and he headed back to WWE. On the November 30th episode of Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman laid out Regal with a brutal attack despite the veteran having helped him win the championship days prior.

Friedman’s attack on Regal enraged fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson, and he has been at odds with MJF ever since. The two are set to face off once more at Revolution on March 5th, competing in a 60 minute Iron Man Match.

On the February 22nd episode of Dynamite, Friedman opened up about his personal life taking a turn for the worst as he revealed that his fiancĂ©e had left him. However, the star took things too far when he began speaking about Bryan’s own family life, even invoking the names of his children Birdie and Buddy. Enraged, Bryan Danielson brawled with his AEW Revolution opponent.

Who Does Matt Hardy Believe Will Be The One To Dethrone MJF As AEW World Champion?

Despite the build up to the clash between Danielson and MJF, some in the company don’t believe Danielson will emerge victorious during their pay-per-view bout. Speaking on a new episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the longtime veteran was asked who he thought would be the one to eventually defeat Friedman for the title, and he answered that he thinks that honor will belong to Kenny Omega.

“If I had to guess, I would say Kenny Omega.”

Hardy also explained that he doesn’t believe Friedman’s title run is to help create another young star, but rather to elevate the career of Friedman himself and solidify him as a top performer in the company.

Kenny Omega is no stranger to holding AEW gold as he is a previous AEW World Champion himself as well as currently holding the AEW Trios World Championship alongside The Young Bucks.
