Matt Hardy has recalled a hilarious interaction with the police while filming Total Nonstop Deletion.
While Matt Hardy signed with TNA in 2014, it wasn’t until mid 2016 that he began his most memorable run with the company.
After being “Broken” by his brother Jeff, who later became Brother Nero, Matt Hardy created the Broken Universe. This led to a series of cinematic matches and increasingly wild scenarios involving multiple members of the Hardy family.
That December, TNA aired a special episode of their weekly Impact Wrestling show titled Total Nonstop Deletion which came straight from the Hardy Compound. The show included numerous special appearances from the likes of Road Warrior Animal and the Rock n’ Roll Express to name just a few.
On a recent episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the now AEW star reflected on his time as “Broken Matt Hardy.” Looking back on the Total Nonstop Deletion event, Hardy recalled catching the attention of the local police while filming, but he and Jeff were let off as the officer involved was a fan of the pair.
“At one point we were doing this scene, a policeman pulled in,” Hardy said. “And he said ‘hey guys, what’s going on here,’ we said ‘hey man, how are you?’ He said ‘oh sh*t, what’s going on Hardy Boyz, how are you doing?’ We said ‘we’re filming something for this show coming up,’ he said ‘did you guys have a permit?’ We said ‘no no, we don’t have a permit,’ he said ‘it’s okay, you guys just go ahead.’ We do okay in Cameron, we get away with stuff.”
During the conversation, Hardy also discussed the Young Bucks missing out on being part of the show due to a scheduling conflict after it had been pushed back.
“Originally this event was scheduled to be done a couple of weeks earlier but there was all this controversy between Billy Corgan and Anthem over who owned the ownership and booking of these events,” Hardy said. “We had to move this two weeks later and then The Young Bucks were in Japan at the time.”
After a second run with WWE, Matt and Jeff Hardy have since reunited in AEW.
