Matt Hardy Explains Why Upcoming TNA Match Could Signal The End Of An Era

Matt Hardy Addresses Current Status Following Recent Social Media Posts Promoting WWE

Matt Hardy has admitted that TNA Bound For Glory 2024 could be the location of the last in a series of iconic matches.

Throughout The Attitude Era in WWE, The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian feuded over the Tag Team Championships. Beginning with tag team ladder and tables matches, all 3 teams would go on to be synonymous with their respective weapons of tables [The Dudleys], ladders [The Hardys] and chairs [Edge and Christian], leading to the first-ever TLC match being booked for SummerSlam 2000.

While many praised the first iteration of the match, the sequel at WrestleMania X-Seven is still regarded as the best TLC match more than 20 years later and is many fans’ pick for match of the night on what was a very stacked card.

Noticing the hype around the iconic WWE stipulation, TNA introduced the same concept in 2005 and dubbed the match Full Metal Mayhem, which also had The Hardys as participants numerous times.

At Bound For Glory 2024, The Hardys will once again be a part of the high-risk stipulation as they will join ABC [Ace Austin and Chris Bey] in challenging The System [Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards] for the Tag Team Championships. Discussing the upcoming match on his Extreme Life podcast, Hardy noted that it is a stipulation he is very familiar with:

“This is definitely in mine and Brother Nero’s wheelhouse, so we’re very excited for this matchup.”

Matt Hardy Says This Might Be The Last TLC Match

Continuing, Hardy was asked by co-host Jon Alba if he thinks this could be the final time they compete in the brutal match, to which the tag team legend responded that with the amount of wear and tear they have it just might be:

“It very well could be, I don’t know. This might be the last TLC/Full Metal Mayhem match that our old vessels can withstand. You think about that as you get a little bit older and deeper into your career, there’s a lot less ahead of you than there is behind you, you think about that. How many more of these do I have left? This might be our last true Full Metal Mayhem match.

We’re gonna go out there and give it all we got. Jeff’s been kicking ass when it comes to training, I’ve been kicking ass when it comes to training. I can’t stress how important it is that this last run in TNA, and especially having a great run as TNA tag team champions and really cementing our legacy as one of the best to ever do this, I can’t stress how paramount it is to both of us.”

On a previous episode of his podcast, Matt Hardy spoke about a missed opportunity in AEW.

According to a new report, things are looking very positive for TNA Bound For Glory.

In a new interview, Jeff Hardy explained why TNA has become a perfect fit.
