Following the arrest and subsequent suspension of his brother Jeff, Matt Hardy has addressed his future in AEW, saying that he will make the most out of whatever opportunity he is given.
Jeff Hardy left WWE under a cloud at the tail end of 2021 with many fans expecting him to reunite with his brother Matt in AEW. On the 9th of March edition of AEW Dynamite, the former WWE Champion did just that coming to Matt’s aid after the rest of The AHFO turned on him.
Jeff Hardy has made headlines for all the wrong reasons recently following his arrest for yet another DUI. When Hardy was picked up by police he was reportedly almost four times the legal limit and footage has since emerged of him performing at a concert earlier in the night where he seems to be drinking whisky.
The incident has had consequences for Matt Hardy, as the duo were reportedly tipped to win the AEW Tag Team Championships during the recent Dynamite Road Rager special. When the episode aired, it was the Young Bucks who took the gold from Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.
Speaking about his future in AEW on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the multi-time Tag Team Champion explained that, while the situation is “heartbreaking”, he is looking at it as a challenge instead of a setback.
“As far as what I’m doing going forward, I’m sure I’ll be doing something in some capacity on AEW. I’m going to change it up a little bit, tweak things a little bit and we’ll try to make some magic happen. I look at it as a challenge, as an artist where there’s really no timetable on what is happening.
“I had a great conversation with Tony Khan, just talking with him a little bit. We’ll see. We have a few weeks to work on stuff. I’m excited for it. I look at it as a challenge, as opposed to looking at everything as a setback
“Obviously, it’s disappointing and heartbreaking that I’m not going to be teaming with my brother and we won’t have this last great run, but I am going to make the most out of whatever opportunity I’m given. I will be positive and optimistic as always.”
