Matt Hardy names the adjustment he would make to steel cage matches.

Cage matches have taken place in a variety of formats over the years and one star who is no stranger to competing in them is Matt Hardy. The former WWE Superstar has had numerous encounters inside a cage throughout the years both in singles and tag-team action.

On the latest edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast! the AEW veteran reflected on The Hardy Boyz battle with Edge & Christian in a steel cage match at Unforgiven 2000 for the WWE Tag Team Championship. In response to a fan question asking what one change he would make to a steel cage match, Hardy answered:

“I’m okay with escaping the cage, but the one thing I would definitely remove is that you can go through the door. I’ve hated that rule since day one.

It’s super anticlimactic. [The fact that] you can walk out the door and step on the floor is boring. If you’re going to do it and say you can escape the cage and win, then you have to go over the top of the cage. So that way, it adds some excitement to the match.”

Matt Hardy recently teased that his brother Jeff Hardy could be back in action soon. Jeff hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Matt at AEW Double or Nothing back on May 29th. The 45-year-old was arrested on June 13th for driving under the influence with a suspended license resulting in AEW suspending him without pay.
