Matt Cardona has added another Title to his collection by capturing the DDT Pro Universal Championship.
In recent days Cardona has laid claim to being one half of one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and entered the arena at the Wrestle Peter Pan event in Japan with the WWE gold around his waist.
Cardona’s wife Chelsea Green and tag team partner Sonya Deville were crowned the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions on the July 17th 2023 episode of Raw following a surprise victory over defending Champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. The duo are now being widely tipped for a long run with the gold.
Despite no longer being with the company, Cardona was backstage to see Green capture the gold, but chose to leave early to avoid rumours of a WWE return resurfacing.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion took to Twitter ahead of the DDT Pro Event to declare his share of his wife’s new prize:
“I am one half of one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions… Does that make @stephdelander one half of one half of one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions?!”
Despite the bold claim, it was still somewhat of a shock to see Cardona come through the curtain sporting the WWE belt, but it wasn’t to be the only gold he would leave with as he captured the DDT Pro Universal Championship with victory over Tetsuya Endo.

The joy would be short lived, however, with the new Champion immediately confronted by GCW rival Maki Itoh.
