Matt Cardona – “Paul Heyman Can Kiss My Tan Ass”

Matt Cardona

Matt Cardona has blasted Paul Heyman during a pre-match promo at GCW Say You Will, saying Brock Lesnar’s Advocate can “kiss his tan ass”.

Matt Cardona has become something of a regular at GCW events in the past year, having made his debut for the company by attacking Nick Gage at the company’s Zombie Walk event in June 2021. The following month at GCW Homecoming, the former Zack Ryder scored an upset victory over Gage in a Deathmatch to capture the GCW World Championship.

Cardona held the championship until September 2021 when at The Art Of Wargames, Jon Moxley made an unexpected appearance to answer Cardona’s open challenge for the title. Moxley quickly defeated Cardona after smashing him with light tubes and dropping him with a Paradigm Shift to capture the gold.

More recently, at Most Notorious on January 14th, Cardona defeated ECW Original Rhino, after which he crowned himself the ECW World Television Champion.

Since then, fans had been asking what Paul Heyman would say about Cardona reactivating the ECW title, and Cardona had an answer for them at Say You Will. Before his match against Ricky Morton, Cardona addressed the crowd, saying that as far as he was concerned, Heyman could kiss his ass.

“I haven’t talked to Paul Heyman in two years. The last time I talked to Paul Heyman, it was at the beginning of the pandemic and he was in charge of Monday Night Raw. I wrote this heartfelt email about how all I wanted was an opportunity, and all I wanted to do was wrestle. I got fired two days later. So, as far as I’m concerned, Paul Heyman can kiss my tan ass!”

He went on to talk about what was next for the championship, saying WWE, who own the rights to the title, would hit him with a cease and desist order.

“As for this championship, I know that WWE’s going to hit me with a cease and desist, but I’m always ready.”

He then asked for a garbage can, and uttered the words Shawn Michaels said to Ric Flair before he superkicked him into retirement, “I’m sorry, I love you,” before dropping the belt in the trash in a callback to Madusa doing the same to the WWF Women’s Championship on an episode of WCW Nitro.

Cardona went on to lose the match to Morton by roll-up, but proceeded to attack the veteran following the bout, leading to Joey Janella coming to the ring to chase him off.
