Matt Cardona On His AEW Future: “Hopefully, We’ll Do It Again Soon!”

By Matt Tennant. Published 30th September 2020.
Matt Cardona

Matt Cardona set the cat among the pigeons when he made his AEW debut earlier this year to save buddy Cody.

However, AEW devotees were shocked when Cardona disappeared from television following All Out where he teamed with The Natural Nightmares and Scorpio Sky to defeat The Dark Order and Colt Cabana.

According to Wrestling Inc. in July, the artist formerly known as Zack Ryder had only signed a short term contract with All Elite Wrestling so Matt Cardona took to the Pro Wrestling Junkies Podcast to not only reveal that his deal expired on September 5th, but also discuss his future with the company.

When questioned about whether or not he was still hoping to return to AEW as a full-time roster member, Cardona had this to say:

“That’s the place to be right now. To be there even for a month, and do a couple of matches, was a lot of fun. It was great to just be out there and be myself again. Hopefully, we’ll do it again soon.”

As much as he would love to return to AEW, Matt Cardona seems to have other plans and goals in professional wrestling as he revealed when quizzed about his desires once the COVID-19 pandemic ceases to exist:

“It’s a weird situation and weird time in the world. I’d love to go to New Japan, or even go back and main event a few indie shows at my home promotions in New York. When the world opens up, it’ll be the best time in wrestling. Fans and wrestlers will both be so excited and we’re gonna have some kicka** shows.”

Everyone at Inside the Ropes wishes Matt Cardona nothing but the best in wherever he chooses to go next.
