Matt Cardona has made a huge announcement regarding the future of his career after suffering a torn bicep.
On 28 May, Matt Cardona suffered a torn bicep during his match against Blake Christian during GCW’s Downward Spiral card. Cardona would confirm the injury a few days later on social media, announcing surgery would be needed:
Got a MRI today. Bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Will unfortunately need to cancel some dates.

This past Friday, however, Matt Cardona confirmed on Twitter he would be making his in-ring return as part of the NWA’s 74th Anniversary show on 27 August, facing a handpicked opponent at the show:
I’M BACK!
I will make my return to the ring at #NWA74 on August 27.
I will handpick my opponent from the incredibly talented @nwa roster.

Cardona’s last match was against Blake Christian on 5 June at GCW Cage of Survival, where he lost in just over a minute after receiving a chair shot and a Superkick.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso in June, Matt Cardona expressed hopes to return in three months, despite being told he had a 5-month recovery time.
“My doctor said that the recovery is five months. But my goal is three. I’m still going to be making towns. I’ve contacted every promotion I had booked, and all but two are still bringing me in because they know I sell tickets – and I rescheduled with those other two. I’m not going to be stuck at home injured. I won’t be in the ring, but this isn’t a three-month vacation. I’m just as busy as I was, even with a torn bicep.”
As a result of the injury, Matt Cardona was forced to pull out of NWA Alwayz Ready and vacate the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. He would also declare Brian Myers the new IMPACT Digital Media Champion, despite losing the belt to Rich Swann at The Wrestling Revolver’s Vegas Vacation on the same day he got injured.
