According to Fightful, Matt Cardona does not have a full-term agreement with IMPACT Wrestling.
At IMPACT Wrestling: Hard to Kill on January 16, the artist formerly known as Zack Ryder made a shock appearance in a disqualification victory over Ace Austin. The participation caused many to clamour to social media in order to praise the company newest signing without the knowledge that Cardona had yet to sign on the dotted line.
As per a report published by Fightful Select – the website’s premium service – the star does not have a contract with the company which points to him being on a per-appearance deal:
Matt Cardona, the former Zack Ryder, made his IMPACT Wrestling debut on January 16, and it was said on commentary that “he’s with IMPACT Wrestling,” which is true…for the week. We’re told that as of now, Cardona does not have a full-time contract with IMPACT and is working this week’s television tapings.
Matt Cardona’s deal with IMPACT Wrestling looks to be much the same as the one he had with AEW in 2020 when he made a handful of sporadic appearances for the Jacksonville brand following his release from WWE. After appearing to save Cody Rhodes on Dynamite, the star teamed with his friend to defeat The Dark Order on July 30 and teamed with The Natural Nightmares and Scorpio Sky to drop the faction at All Out.
Currently, it is said that Cardona has his pick of where to settle with several promotions seeking his signature on a long-term basis.
