Matt Cardona spent over a decade in WWE, and since his release in April of 2020 has carved his name as one of the top free agents in wrestling.
He still keeps up with the sports entertainment giant, especially as his wife Chelsea Green recently re-signed with the company and has been featured on both Raw and SmackDown in recent weeks.
Speaking on a recent episode of WrestleBinge by Sportskeeda, Cardona was asked who he believed to be WWE’s 2022 Rookie of the Year. His answer was unequivocal: no one has impressed as much as social media sensation Logan Paul.
“I’m probably going to get some heat for this, but how is it not Logan Paul?” Cardona asked incredulously. “I mean, what this guy has done in the handful of matches that he has had — I mean, he had a world title match and held his own against Roman Reigns.”
Since making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38, Paul has had just three matches in WWE, but he’s impressed in all of his outings. His only defeat to date came at the hands of Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel last October.
Continuing, Cardona praised the YouTube star for bringing in fans from outside the world of WWE and also called to attention the fact that Paul seems like he fits in the world of professional wrestling.
“Plus, he has such a huge fanbase outside the WWE. If you watch his matches, it doesn’t seem like he’s an outsider. He’s an in-shape guy, very athletic, and has tons of charisma. I mean I’m sure it rubs some people the wrong way, but that’s the business, pal.”
Matt Cardona’s Rookie Of The Year Logan Paul Will Face Seth Rollins At WrestleMania 39
On the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, Logan Paul made his way back to WWE television for the first time since attacking Seth Rollins inside the Elimination Chamber. The two had a confrontation on MizTV, and Paul declared that he was very good at his job.
Rollins called Paul the “scum of the earth,” a “coward,” and a “fraud” before the two brawled. Eventually, Paul laid out Rollins before telling his foe to let him know about WrestleMania, ending the segment with the words “Buh-bye, b****.”
