Multiple Matches Announced For AEW Battle Of The Belts II

AEW Battle of the Belts

More matches have been confirmed for AEW Battle of the Belts II on April 16th.

On the March 9th episode of AEW Dynamite, Scorpio Sky defeated Sammy Guevara to win the TNT Championship for the first time. The match also saw hostilities begin between Paige VanZant and Guevara’s girlfriend Tay Conti.

In fact, after Sky had pinned Guevara, VanZant signed her AEW contract on the prone bodies of the former champion and Conti.

Over the following weeks, the two sides have exchanged insults as Guevara attempted to get a rematch against Scorpio Sky. In the process, the Spanish God has vandalised Sky’s car, and made some interesting claims regarding the TNT Championship belt.

On April 13th, Dan Lambert and the Men of the Year gave an interview backstage where they called out Guevara and Conti. It was then announced that the pair will meet at Battle of the Belts II. To date, Sky has only defended the TNT Championship once. On that occasion he defeated Wardlow, albeit with a huge helping hand from MJF.

During the show it was also confirmed that Jonathan Gresham will defend the Ring of Honor World Championship against Dalton Castle. Gresham recently retained the title against Bandido at Supercard of Honor, while Castle defeated Joe Hendry on the same card.

Battle of the Belts II will be headlined by the AEW Women’s World Championship match between Thunder Rosa and Nyla Rosa. Thunder Rosa won the Women’s Title back at St Patrick’s Day Slam where she defeated long-reigning champion Britt Baker in a Steel Cage Match.

The match represents an opportunity for Nyla Rose to regain the AEW Women’s World Championship that she lost back in May 2020.

The first Battle of the Belts show was held in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 8th and was headlined by Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes.
