Fans tuning in to night 1 of WrestleMania and expecting to see New Day’s King Woods and Kofi Kingston take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland would have been left confused after the match, well, simply didn’t take place!
Posting during the show, Sheamus seemingly confirmed the match had been cut by sharing a tweet with a pair of scissors on Twitter, while PWInsider.com reported that the issue was due to other matches going too long.
“Sheamus and Ridge Holland vs. The New Day has been scratched from WrestleMania 38 Night One.
“We are told that WWE pulled the match due to a number of matches on the show going long.”

The match, which was originally set to be a Six-Man Tag Team Match involving Big E, who suffered a horrendous neck break on live TV recently, and Butch – formerly Pete Dunne – who will be at ringside for the bout.
WWE has since confirmed that the match will take place on night 2.

The match was set up after issues between the teams have escalated on SmackDown in recent weeks following a scary moment in a tag team bout featuring Woods and Kingston’s New Day partner Big E.
On the March 11th edition of SmackDown, a serious injury to Big E overshadowed the rest of the show. The former WWE Champion had been teaming with Kofi Kingston to take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
After Big E fell to the outside, he was given an overhead Belly to Belly Suplex by Ridge Holland. However, instead of Big E flipping all the way over and landing on his back, he landed on his head and neck, resulting in a broken neck. Big E has commented since that a doctor has told him he narrowly avoided absolute catastrophe with the nasty injury.
Fightful Select previously reported that Big E was factored into plans for a potential six-man tag team match at WrestleMania 38 with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to face the team of Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Pete Dunne – now known as Butch – who debuted on the same show where Big E suffered his injury.
