At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Orange Cassidy and Pac would face off in the squared circle for the All-Atlantic Championship. From the start, it was clear that OC was the fan favorite, but Pac would hang on to the belt with controversy lingering over the match.
For the first time since that match, Pac has been booked to defend the title, and that will take place next Friday at AEW Battle of the Belts IV. His opponent is none other than Trent Beretta, who is a part of Cassidy’s Best Friends faction.
Despite Pac and OC not being in the ring for Battle of the Belts IV, the match between Pac and Beretta is a signal that the feud between the two will continue, a rivalry that has been ongoing since the AEW Revolution 2020 pay-per-view. “Freshly Squeezed” has yet to defeat Pac, but the more matches between the two, the more intense they get with OC closing the gap.
With their last match at Grand Slam, for example, Pac was in a grueling match with Orange Cassidy, with OC having a solid shot of winning the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. Showing desperation, Pac would grab the ring bell hammer and slammed Cassidy with it, ultimately giving him the victory to retain the strap. The successful, yet controversial, title defense would be Pac’s fifth.
AEW released a promo video on their Twitter to hype the bout between Pac and Beretta, with Beretta making it very clear that he wasn’t happy with Pac and that he’s planning to avenge Orange Cassidy after Pac’s hammer shot took him out of action.
After Orange Cassidy’s injury at the hands of PAC, #BestFriends@trentylocks vows to hurt PAC & take his Title! #AEW All-Atlantic Championship: PAC (c) vs Trent Beretta next FRIDAY, Oct. 7th LIVE at 11/10c on #AEWBattleOfTheBelts IV! pic.twitter.com/eIjJCjOvF9

The Pac/Cassidy rivalry isn’t the only thing that links to the match between Pac and Beretta, however, this Battle of the Belts contest will also extend the stable war between Death Triangle and Best Friends, which has been happening since 2020.
For nearly three years now, Best Friends have been a pain to deal with for Death Triangle, even having to go through them in order to win the AEW World Trios Championship – a title that’s only intensified the rivalry.
After the AEW All Out backstage brawl that happened following CM Punk’s media scrum comments, The Elite – Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) – were suspended and their AEW World Trios Championship belts were vacated.
As a result, Tony Khan would announce a tournament for the titles, with the final coming down to Death Triangle (Pac and The Lucha Bros) and Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Kris Statlander and Chuck Taylor). Death Triangle would go on to become the new AEW World Trios Champions.
