AEW fans shouldn’t expect to see Mark Henry wearing his famous salmon blazer make an appearance in AEW as ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ says it’s kept by WWE.
Henry stunned the wrestling world at AEW’s Double Or Nothing event at the end of May. Tony Schiavone introduced Henry to the packed Daily’s Place saying that he will be the analyst on the upcoming Friday night AEW Rampage show.
On the next AEW Dynamite Mark Henry spoke about how excited he was to get to work in his new wrestling home. Schiavone asked him if fans could expect to see him wrestling in AEW, Henry’s reply was non-committal but he did repeat his famous line of “I’ve got a lot left in the tank.”
Henry famously took part in one of the most highly regarded segments in Raw history in 2013. Following a loss, at May’s Extreme Rules event Henry used social media to tease his retirement from wrestling. Appearing on Raw in June wearing the famous salmon suit jacket, Henry launched into an emotional retirement speech. He was joined by WWE Champion John Cena who Henry talked up while seeming wistful about the only title he had never held in his career. At the culmination of the segment, Cena hugged Henry who deftly dispatched Cena with a World’s Strongest Slam. That was when he first uttered his “I’ve got a lot left in the tank” line.
Speaking to Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Henry revealed that the jacket won’t become All Elite, saying it is kept by WWE.
“It’s in the WWE archive. If I want it back I can get it. But I think the memory of that was there, and I have no problem with it. The fans will be able to see it, I’m coming over here fresh. I got a lot of compliments on my blue blazer I came out with.”
The jacket was so iconic, Henry even briefly donned it during his WWE Hall Of Fame induction speech in 2018. Henry has also recently shared his thoughts on WWE releasing another of their giants after they let Braun Strowman go.
