Mark Henry has discussed the interest he has in making former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman part of his new home at All Elite Wrestling.
Henry shocked the wrestling world when it was announced that the World’s Strongest Man was now All Elite at May’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. Tony Schiavone announced Henry by saying he was going to be working as the analyst for AEW’s upcoming new show on TBS, Rampage.
Henry has previously discussed Strowman after The Monster Among Men was surprisingly released from his WWE contract on the 2nd of June. According to Henry, he wouldn’t have made the decision to let Strowman leave the company.
Now speaking to TMZ, Henry has discussed his interest in bringing Strowman to AEW:
“Super high on my list. It’s not an all Mark Henry decision, but there already is interest on both sides. Hopefully, by the time he’s allowed to wrestle in August, I think the middle of August, then we can have a serious conversation about contractual things of that nature but right now there’s interest on both sides.”
It is believed that Braun Strowman is subject to the standard ninety-day non-compete clause following his WWE exit. Given the date his release was announced the end of that 90 day period would fall on the 31st of August – just 5 days before AEW’s All Out pay-per-view.
Another big name on Henry’s All Elite wishlist is another former WWE star who has just made a new home in IMPACT Wrestling.
“Big Cass too, I love that guy. I don’t want to talk to people while they have contracts with people. I don’t think that that’s fair.”
One thing AEW fans shouldn’t expect to see is Mark Henry’s famous salmon jacket from his “retirement” speech on Raw. One of the most fondly remembered segments on Raw came when Henry gave a tearful farewell to the WWE Universe before dropping WWE Champion John Cena with the World’s Strongest Slam.
