Mark Henry has a lot left in the tank and says his last match will come in an All Elite Wrestling ring but fans of the WWE Hall Of Famer will have to wait.
The former World Heavyweight Champion was a guest on the Battleground Podcast when he discussed his role in AEW and if he’ll ever compete in the ring.
Henry explained that while he’s confident it will happen, it won’t come anytime soon due to nagging injuries:
“Well, it’s definitely gonna happen in AEW. It’s not going to be anytime soon, I think. I want to be 100%. I am still nursing injuries from 4 years ago. The wrestling business is a tough business, it’s not meant for everybody. Being in my home state, it would be cool to be able to do that, but not at this current time.”
Although the fifty-year-old Mark Henry competed at the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018 and the André The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33, his last one-on-one match occurred on Raw in February 2017. In that bout, Henry fell to defeat in less than five minutes against Braun Strowman.
For now, Henry says he is focused on his role on the upcoming AEW Rampage show where he will sit at the announce desk as an analyst. Henry says he wants to compete with the very best in the business on commentary:
“I will be on a new show called Rampage. We’re going to be on Fridays, I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials. I want to be one of the best commentators. I want to compete with Jim Ross, I want to compete with Michael Cole, I want to compete with Pat McAfee, and we’re going to have a good time doing it. I think fans are going to come away from it seeing Mark Henry a little differently.”
