AEW Women’s Championship Mariah May has a new challenge.
May made an announced appearance during the All Out Zero Hour to confront and then attack the returning hometown hero Skye Blue. The Chicago native made her first appearance since suffering an ankle injury in a match against Hikaru Shida on Collision in July.
In a segment with Tony Schiavone, Skye Blue appeared on stage aided by crutches in front of a cheering crowd. The star addressed her fans stating that the Now Arena is extremely sentimental to her as it is the place where Tony Khan offered her a place in the Casino Battle Royal at All Out 2021.
She then provided a brief update on her ankle and return date revealing she is doing everything to back quickly but admitted the process is a waiting game. She was then interrupted by the Women’s Champion, The Glamour Mariah May.
The champion said she wanted to hold a championship celebration but not in Chicago, Blue responded by calling her a skank, which led to May kicking away one of her crutches and pushing her to the floor.
Queen Aminata Challenges Mariah May To Match On AEW Dynamite
In a backstage digital exclusive after the confrontation, Queen Aminata laid down a challenge to May for the September 11th edition of Dynamite:
“Mariah May, so you want to pick on somebody with a broken ankle? Well, why don’t you pick on somebody with two good ankles and more juice than you could ever handle? I also know one day, Skye Blue’s going to kick your ass, but this Wednesday, I’m going to do it first. So Mariah, you can be the champion, you can be The Glamour, but you will never, never be the one and only Queen,”
