Maria Kanellis On A Possible AEW Future – “JR’s Pulling For Me”

Maria Kanellis

Maria Kanellis has discussed having a fan in AEW announcer Jim Ross and says that WWE Hall of Famer ‘Good Ol’ JR’ is ‘pulling for her.’

Appearing on the DropKick Podcast, Kanellis discussed a variety of topics including her time at WWE and what her future holds. The former TNA Knockouts Champion has also performed in Ring of Honor and in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Those appearances came after Maria left WWE for the first time in 2010. Maria notes that there is a different opportunity available to her now that wasn’t then – All Elite Wrestling.

Kanellis explains:

“The last time WWE fired me I traveled and went to every single wrestling company out there. Now there’s another new wrestling company out there that I haven’t quite been to. But I know that JR’s pulling for me so, you know, there’s a thousand possibilities out there.”

Maria Kanellis’ husband Mike Bennett has returned to Ring of Honor since the couple were released from WWE in 2020. Bennett has teamed with former Kingdom teammate Matt Taven as The OGK. The duo has been feuding with Taven’s former Kingdom cohorts Vinny Marseglia and Bateman.

Kanellis was announced as making her return to Ring of Honor at the end of 2020 as the face of their ‘The Experience’ fan engagement initiative.

Jim Ross has worked as an announcer for All Elite Wrestling since the companies inception. He was the lead announcer of WWE’s Monday Night Raw when Kanellis debuted for the company as part of the inaugural televised Diva Search in 2004.
