Margot Robbie – “Slept In A Room With A Cardboard Cutout Of John Cena”

Margot Robbie

Hollywood mega-star Margot Robbie has revealed that she used to be a wrestling fan growing up, and in particular a fan of The Undertaker. However, things took a surprising turn when she dated a John Cena-obsessed boyfriend in her early 20’s.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live alongside Cena and James Gunn to promote the upcoming release of The Suicide Squad, Robbie made a slightly bizarre confession.

In conversation with guest host Anthony Anderson, Robbie explained how she was a big wrestling fan as a child, before stopping watching in her teens. Although she was brought back into contact with the weird world of professional wrestling by a boyfriend in her early 20’s. A boyfriend who who had a life-size cut-out of John Cena in his bedroom.

“I watched WWE when I was growing up… When I was a kid, I loved the Undertaker, and then obviously when I was a teenager I kind of stopped watching. But then, as a late teen, early 20s, I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with John Cena — so much so that he dressed as John Cena for his 21st birthday, and [he] had a cardboard cut-out of John Cena in his bedroom. So I slept in a room for two years with a life-size cardboard cut-out of John Cena in the room.”

Unsurprisingly, this was a memory that Robbie couldn’t shake when she met Cena for the first time. Despite promising herself not to mention her previous encounter with the cardboard ‘Mr Hustle, Loyalty and Respect,’ the Wolf of Wall Street star launched into the weird tale within seconds.

“And I remember thinking, ‘I wonder if now that I’m going to work with John Cena, should I tell him this or is that going to be weird?'” Robbie recalled. “And I thought, ‘I’m just going to keep that to myself. I’m not going to tell him. That’d be a weird way to start our working relationship.’ And then five seconds into meeting him, I’m like, ‘I used to sleep in a room with a life-size cut-out of you.'”

The Suicide Squad is set to be released on July 30th in the UK and August 5th in the United States.

John Cena recently wrapped filming on a spin-off series starring his Peacemaker character which is due for release in early 2022.

After finishing filming on the series, Cena made a shocking return to WWE at Money In The Bank. After confronting Roman Reigns on the night, he laid down a challenge to the Universal Champion on the following episode of RAW.

On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Reigns turned down Cena’s challenge, instead agreeing to face Finn Balor.
