Manik Wins X-Division Championship

Manik returned to IMPACT Wrestling at Final Resolution and won the X-Division Championship.

Rohit Raju had held the title ever since Night 1 of Emergence where he defeated Chris Bey and TJP in a Triple Threat Match. Since then, Raju has found a way to defeat all comers, and even escape from multi-man matches with his title intact. At one point, it looked like Jordynne Grace had won the championship, but Raju would retain his title via loophole.

The one thread running through Raju’s reign, though, had been his rivalry with TJP. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has been a thorn in the side of Raju for weeks, and their rivalry recently culminated in TJP no longer being allowed to challenge for the title while Raju held the gold as a result of an unsuccessful title challenge.

However, Manik – a spin-off character of IMPACT’s legendary character Suicide – would be the final challenger in the ‘Defeat Rohit’ Open Challenge, taking the title from a man who held the belt for 120 days.

Raju had previously lost to Suicide, who turned out to be Crazzy Steve in disguise, before defeating the unmasked Steve the following week to retain his title. However, the spin-off character of Manik, who those with a close eye to detail may be able to figure out the identity of even with no previous knowledge of the character, would eventually end the title reign.

Manik has always been performed by TJP, with the connection even being directly referenced on IMPACT’s programming. The title win kicks off Manik’s second ever X-Division Championship reign after winning an Ultimate X Match in 2015 against Greg Marasciulo and Sonjay Dutt after defeating Kenny King and Chavo Guerrero, but would leave the company following TJP’s release in 2016.

Manik has also wrestled in an IMPACT Wrestling earlier this year, too, teaming up with Suicide at the special one-night-only TNA event in a winning effort against Johnny Swinger and Kid Kash.

At Final Resolution, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega would also make his second appearance in a week, ahead of his announced return this week.
