Mandy Rose is your new NXT Women’s Champion after overcoming Raquel Gonzalez at Halloween Havoc.
NXT Halloween Havoc promised to be a night of change for the recently relaunched brand and so it proved with multiple championships changing hands. Arguably the biggest of these was Mandy Rose shockingly defeating Raquel Gonzalez after interference from a returning Dakota Kai.
Following ‘Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal’ it was left to “Chucky’s Choice” to make the stipulation and the iconic doll and special guest chose a ‘Trick or Street Fight.’
The two women proceeded to throw everything at each other from the steel steps, to kendo sticks to fire extinguishers in the pursuit of victory. However, the deciding factor proved to be the arrival of a hooded figure clutching a shovel who levelled Gonzalez with the weapon allowing Rose to hit the running knee to claim the win.
After the match the mysterious figure revealed themselves to be Dakota Kai as she stood over the now former champion. Kai hadn’t been seen on NXT since being defeated by Gonzalez at NXT TakeOver: 36.
The victory marks the first time Mandy Rose has held championship gold in WWE.
Mandy Rose first appeared with WWE in 2016, competing on the sixth series of Tough Enough. After a short stint alongside Sonya Deville in NXT the pair moved to the main roster in 2017.
After a mixed nearly four years on the main roster, Rose returned to NXT in July. A month later she joined forces with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne forming the group Toxic Attraction, before setting her sights on the NXT Women’s Championship.
Halloween Havoc proved to be something of a banner night for the trio as Dolin and Jayne defeated Io Shirai and Zoey Stark and Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta in a Triple Threat Scareway to Hell Ladder Match to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles.
