AEW star Malakai Black has revealed that a major injury led to him contemplating his wrestling future and possible retirement.

Malakai Black has found his calling in AEW as the lynchpin of the mysterious House of Black alongside Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Julia Hart. The former NXT Champion has recently come face to face with Sting on AEW television as both men’s partners King and Darby Allin have gone to war.

Writing on his TikTok while showcasing his weightlifting skills, Malakai Black revealed that all of this could have been so very different as a back injury had the star considering retirement from the ring:

“Till about 3 months ago I was dealing with a back injury I was convinced was going to force me into retirement, but after a literal year of treatment that went from working to complete failure on several occasions we all of a sudden hit the correct vertebrae during a dry needling session and everything released.”

“From there we were able to rehab and strengthen. You can check video 2 for this horrendous view and my personal reaction to it. However, allowing me now a few months later to slowly move back into deadlifting and a few more compound moves.”

Malakai Black won’t be far away at AEW Quake By The Lake when Brody King looks to end things with Darby Allin in a Coffin Match.
