Former WWE star Malakai Black has discussed bumping into the WWE Chairman on one of those very rare occasions when Vince McMahon was decked out in denim.
Malakai Black who competed in WWE as Aleister Black was released from his WWE contract on the 2nd of June alongside former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, Ruby Riott, Lana, Buddy Murphy, and Santana Garrett. Since then Black has barely missed a beat as a ‘clerical error’ from WWE allowed the Dutchman to debut in All Elite Wrestling much sooner than anybody had anticipated.
Black wasted no time in going after a big name in AEW as he targetted Cody Rhodes and his head coach Arn Anderson, dropping both men with his Black Mass spin kick in his shocking debut.
Appearing on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Malakai Black cast his mind further back to a run-in with a denim-clad Vince McMahon. Not normally one for jeans, McMahon had an interesting reaction when Black asked him about his sartorial choice.
“It had something to do with the fact that he had a really busy day. And he felt that he was a bit overworked and he thought ‘well hey, I’m in my own environment so today I’m not going to be too formal.’ I mean he’s still always in his suit, he always looks really, really well dressed up. But he was wearing jeans and I wasn’t expecting it. I remember going ‘jeans sir?’ And he went ‘ugh, it’s one of those days.’”
The day certainly will have been a busy one for Vince McMahon as the encounter with Black occurred on the day that the 2020 Money In The Bank matches were being filmed at WWE Headquarters. Both the men and women’s ladder matches ended on top of the roof at WWE HQ with Asuka claiming the women’s briefcase and Otis claiming the men’s. Interestingly neither Asuka nor Otis got the chance to cash in their contracts in the usual style. Asuka was awarded the Raw Women’s Championship the next night on Raw with Becky Lynch vacating the belt due to pregnancy. Otis lost his briefcase to The Miz before he could cash in with The Miz doing exactly that to Drew McIntyre in February 2021.
