Malakai Black heads one of AEW’s most interesting acts, the House of Black.
His presence casts a dark shadow over the promotion and his mist-spraying antics corrupted and then recruited three members to the group. Brody King, Buddy Mattews and Julia Hart all joined the faction after the influence of the mysterious black mist.
Malakai Black Is Yet To Win A Title In AEW
Despite bursting onto the AEW scene and defeating Cody Rhodes in a matter of seconds, championship gold has eluded him thus far. But the leader of the demonic faction has now stated that a challenge for the Trios Championships is in the future for the House of Black.
Black was a guest on HardLore: Stories From Tour. During the interview, the man from Amsterdam talked about the future and direction of the group.
“It would make more sense for us to chase the Trios titles. I feel like it’s time for us to do something that turns more heads than just being the House of Black and give people an extra reason to bite down on what it is that we present to the world.”
The current Trios Champions, The Elite, recently successfully defended the titles on the February 8th edition of Dynamite. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks defeated Top Flight and AR Fox in their second defence of the championships.
Further on in the interview, Black spoke about his partner, Brody King and the possibility of fighting one another.
“The reason why is because best friends make better enemies. I think that him and me can bring something out of each other that is animalistic. We can pull back the curtain on a friendship level — actually move the current in front of a friendship level — and just go, ‘All right, we’re going to fight,’ and we’re going to fight and not have any hatred towards each other.”
Black and King known as the Kings of the Black Throne are the reigning PWG World Tag Team Champions. The tattooed duo defeated Black Taurus and Demonic Flamita at Threemendous VI in 2021 to capture the title for the first time.
