Maki Itoh has announced her intention to challenge for the Princess of Princess Championship, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling’s top prize!
‘The cutest in the world’ has thrown down the gauntlet for reigning champion Rika Tatsumi. During a live stream on TJPW’s YouTube channel Itoh challenged the champion to a match on the 17th of April. That show takes place in the famed Korakuen Hall. Telling fans that she is riding high after her recent experiences in AEW, Itoh is continuing to push herself:
‘The AEW experience was huge for me: I overcame tight schedules, language barriers, and delivered results. I’m on a roll right now; I’m at my best and I’m confident. I can’t stop here though; I can’t be satisfied with what I have. I want to elevate my status. I want to be the best in Tokyo Joshi! You know what that means. I want to challenge Rika Tatsumi for the Princess of Princess title at TJPW 4.17 Korakuen.’

Itoh has successfully held gold in TJPW before. She was the third woman to win the International Princess Championship, a title she defended successfully twice before being dethroned by Thunder Rosa. If Itoh is able to win the Princess of Princess Championship she will become just the seventh woman to hold the title. Perhaps more importantly, she will become the only woman in history to have held both titles.
Unfortunately, Maki Itoh also announced during the livestream that she will miss TJPW’s next event on the 21st of March. This is due to quarantine protocols for those returning from international travel. The 27th of March show, however, will see Itoh’s return.
