Major WWE Star To Miss Backlash

WWE Backlash

On May 6th WWE will be heading to Puerto Rico for the first time since 2005, but one top star won’t be in attendance.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Roman Reigns will not be on the card for the show. In fact, Reigns might not be wrestling again until WWE heads to Saudi Arabia on May 27th.

“Reigns will not be on the San Juan card, or at least that wasn’t the plan on Monday, but he will be doing other major events over the next few months.”

Roman Reigns was most recently in action at WrestleMania 39 where he controversially defeated Cody Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Following his win, the Head of the Table appeared on Raw the following night and turned down Rhodes’ request, via Paul Heyman for a rematch.

This segment set up the main event, where Reigns was scheduled to team with Solo Sikoa to take on Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes. However, The Beast turned on the American Nightmare, leaving him laying after a brutal assault as the show went off the air. Meltzer noted that a match between Rhodes and Lesnar will headline Backlash or the upcoming Saudi Arabia show.

Charlotte Flair Taking WWE Hiatus

If Roman Reigns is going to be taking a break, he seemingly won’t be the only one. On April 4th it was reported that Charlotte Flair will be going on hiatus following her defeat to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. There is no word on how long the hiatus will be, only that it was Flair’s idea.

Charlotte Flair only returned to WWE on December 30th after a seven-month absence.
