Major Update on Trinity Fatu

Naomi - Trinity Fatu

Trinity Fatu – formerly known as Naomi – last wrestled at a WWE live event on May 15th, 2022.

The following night, she and her tag partner Sasha Banks walked out of Raw, leaving their Women’s Tag Team Championships behind them, seemingly due to creative frustrations with the company.

Since then, Banks has changed her name to Mercedes Mone and gone on to major success in New Japan Pro Wrestling and STARDOM as the IWGP Women’s Champion. Most recently, she lost the title to Mayu Iwatani at All Star Grand Queendom on April 23rd.

Although there had been speculation that Fatu would join her in Japan, this has never happened. According to a recent report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is because despite there being some interest from Bushiroad – the parent company of NJPW and STARDOM – the star was thought to be seen as too expensive.

“The wrestling division is under pressure to keep spending down. An example is that they were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal.”

Trinity Fatu could be headed for another promotion

With Japan seemingly out of the equation, Fightful Select has reported that Fatu was seen backstage at Game Changer Wrestling’s ‘Scene of the Crime’ show on April 22nd.

Fightful noted that they had reached out to GCW to try to get clarification on whether she was there to visit or if there are plans for the star in the company, but there was no response from the promotion.
